Calling all Litter Advocates – Old and New

Spread the love

A message from Yvette Young:

Calling all litter advocates, old and new. Spring is well underway and we hope everyone is excited about the new season. Last year we were very successful with our litter campaign. Because of your commitment to our community, we earned $3,000.00. Let’s keep the momentum going for 2025.

During the board’s first quarter meeting we did a recap of last year’s litter campaign and decided to change it, just a bit for 2025. As opposed to having a $50.00 winner every month, we will have a $100.00 winner every quarter. The second quarter of 2025 began on April 1st and will continue until June 30th, 2025. So there is plenty of time to earn $100.00 this quarter, but most importantly, you are helping to keep our community clean.

Like last year and years prior, you may pick up litter, anytime, anyplace, at your discretion. All we need is a photo of your litter, time/date and how many people assisted you. Two people for one hour, earns us two hours. With 145 hours, we earn $1500.00, so the more we have on a team, the more hours/cash we earn.

Also, during the board meeting we discussed the replacement of the center palm at Gulfdale. We were hopeful, it would survive; however, it has not. We have contacted the nursery and anticipate a new palm will be installed soon.

Lastly, Krys Riley will take the lead on the spring refresh for CVS and will be making a post to solicit volunteers to assist. This flowerbed is a major landmark in our community and we are trying to keep it as pristine as possible; however, the only way we can accomplish that goal is by having volunteers to help. A clean community is a safer community.

We currently have $1500.00 on hand earned last year for a beautification project. We are discussing that and will share with the community when we have reached a decision.

What areas on the parkway would you like to see receive a refresh? Thanks for all you do to RevitalizeDIP.

Take a look at our RevitalizeDIP Litter Cleanups Map and decide where you want to pick up litter.

We are looking forward to hearing your comments and seeing increased participation in revitalizing our community to its fullest potential.

RevitalizeDIP encourages you to volunteer your time to help us reduce litter, crime and blight from our South Mobile community.
