Happy New Year!
Today is the beginning of a new year and a time to look forward towards our new year focus.
To put things in perspective, it is best to look at the past to see where we have travelled and what inspires us to maintain the path to #RevitalizeDIP community improvement.
Shortly after Yvette Young began her quest to create our community action group in 2018, she created a GoFundMe Campaign to solicit donations from outside our group of concerned citizens who joined her efforts to improve our community of 10,000+ residents.
Yvette talked about what motivated her to inspire her to become a community action group leader. As well as the beginning results of her inspiring others in our community to identify, plan and take action to revitalize our community.
Yvette’s words still hold true in 2023.
#RevitalizeDIP is a grassroots initiative that began 5/31/2018 as a result of a shooting that caused the death of a 19 year old, increased criminal activity and the downward spiral of Dauphin Island Parkway (DIP), Mobile, AL. DIP was a thriving well sought after community with good schools, nice neighborhoods, waterfront property, parks and commerce. However, over the last 20 years as a result of storms, the housing market and an aging community, DIP began slowly to decline.
In less than two weeks of starting this group we grew to over a thousand members. We are quickly approaching a membership of 1200. Our members consist of multiple races, religions, genders, age and economic status. Bottom line, we are all united in having a clean, wholesome and safe environment. Our group has no political affiliation and does not receive any political backing or funding of any kind. Expenses thus far to promote our group have been funded strictly by donations of the members.
Thus far we have had a successful meeting with Mobile Police Department, coordinated an email campaign to the mayor requesting the city to address blight, created an introductory group flier that was distributed throughout the community by foot and social media, identified short term goals, formed an events group, created a flier to be distributed throughout the community and social media for District 3 meetings, collaborated with The Peninsula of Mobile and The Riverside Community Action Group. The response has been overwhelming and we are very much encouraged that the future of DIP is bright.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to hold an event Fall 2018 to:
- Unite the DIP community
- Voice our concerns to the elected officials, to include, blight, litter, crime, parks and recreation, commerce etc…
- Voice our concerns to the City of Mobile
- Recruit additional members to the group to further our cause.
Your support is greatly needed and very much appreciated….#RevitalizeDIP

#RevitalizeDIP accomplished all of those goals in 2018, and continues to add goals to the list every year.
We expect great things to happen within our Dauphin Island Parkway Community in 2023!
